Classic Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze

A refreshing Italian-inspired dish, the Caprese Salad is a timeless combination of juicy tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and aromatic basil leaves, drizzled with olive oil and sweet balsamic glaze. It’s incredibly simple yet packed with flavor – perfect for a healthy lunch, appetizer, or a side to any meal.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large ripe tomatoes
  • 250g (8 oz) fresh mozzarella
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (or reduction)
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into ½ inch thick rounds.
  2. Arrange them on a plate by alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella, adding a fresh basil leaf between each.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the top, followed by the balsamic glaze.
  4. Sprinkle lightly with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  5. Serve immediately as a light starter or side dish. Perfect with crusty bread!
