👨‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Filling Mixture
In a bowl, combine minced meat, egg, salt, pepper, sweet pepper, breadcrumbs, and Italian herbs. Mix well until fully combined.

Step 2: Cook the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil. Sauté onions and carrots until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly. Add the minced meat mixture and cook until browned and cooked through. Stir in parsley and set aside.

Step 3: Grate and Squeeze Potatoes
Peel and grate the potatoes, then squeeze out excess water using a clean kitchen towel.

In the same pan, add more oil and butter. Spread half of the grated potatoes into an even layer. Press down lightly. Top with the meat mixture, followed by sliced tomatoes and mushrooms. Sprinkle with cheese.

Step 5: Add Final Layer & Fry
Add the remaining grated potatoes on top. Cook on medium heat for about 5–6 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Flip carefully if possible.

Step 6: Make the Creamy Sauce
While it cooks, mix sour cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and dill in a small bowl. Chill until serving.

Step 7: Serve & Enjoy
Slice the dish into portions, drizzle with the creamy sauce, and enjoy warm with a sprinkle of fresh herbs!

📝 Tips:

  • Use pre-grated potatoes to save time.
  • Substitute cheese with mozzarella or cheddar for different flavors.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge and reheat nicely in a skillet or oven.
  • Add a splash of milk or broth while cooking to keep the meat moist.
