Ingredients (Serves 8-10):

For the Cake:

  • 1½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder + 2 tbsp hot water (for chocolate batter)

Optional Glaze:

  • ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1️⃣ Prep & Mix:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy (3-4 mins). Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

2️⃣ Marble the Batter:

  1. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture.
  2. Divide batter in half. Mix cocoa powder + hot water into one portion.
  3. Layer & Swirl: Spoon vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the pan. Run a knife through to create swirls.

3️⃣ Bake & Cool:

  1. Bake 50-55 mins until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cool in pan 10 mins, then transfer to a wire rack.

4️⃣ Glaze (Optional):

  1. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cake.

Baker’s Tip: For deeper swirls, don’t overmix—just 3-4 knife passes!
