Crispy Filipino Lumpia (Golden Spring Rolls)

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • ½ cup shrimp, minced (optional)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • ½ cup green onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar

For Assembly:

  • 25-30 lumpia wrappers (spring roll pastry)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Oil for deep-frying

Dipping Sauce:

  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Spiced vinegar (suka’t sili)

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Filling:

  • Sauté garlic until fragrant. Add pork and shrimp; cook until browned.
  • Add carrots, bean sprouts, and seasonings. Stir-fry for 3 minutes. Drain excess liquid. Cool completely.

2️⃣ Wrap the Lumpia:

  • Place 1 tbsp filling near the corner of a wrapper. Fold sides inward, then roll tightly. Seal with egg wash.

3️⃣ Fry to Crispy Perfection:

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches until golden brown (~3-4 minutes). Drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Serve Hot:

  • Enjoy with sweet chili sauce or spiced vinegar!
