Decadent Vegan Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup water (or almond milk)
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (or melted coconut oil)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Frosting (Optional):

  • ½ cup vegan butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tbsp almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1️⃣ Prep:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round pan.

2️⃣ Make the Batter:

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Mix until smooth (no overmixing).

3️⃣ Bake:

  • Pour batter into the pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before frosting.

4️⃣ Frosting (Optional):

  • Beat vegan butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until creamy.
  • Spread over cooled cake.
